About HTML5
The fifth major revision of Hypertext Markup Language became a W3C Recommendation in October 2014, introducing native video and audio, canvas graphics and semantic elements. In 2019 the W3C and WHATWG agreed to maintain HTML as a single living standard, ending parallel development.
