About ISO 216 A Series
The standard defining A, B and C paper sizes, where A0 is one square meter and each halving keeps the same proportions. Georg Christoph Lichtenberg described the property in 1786, Germany standardized it in 1922, and ISO 216 carried it worldwide in 1975. Only a handful of countries still print on Letter size.
