IEEE 1394 FireWire
About IEEE 1394 FireWire
The high speed serial bus Apple designed and IEEE standardized in 1995, running 400 and later 800 megabits per second with daisy chaining and peer to peer transfer. It became the port of choice for DV camcorders and audio interfaces in the 2000s. USB 2 and Thunderbolt eventually carried its roles, and Apple dropped it in 2012.
