About IEEE 802.3 Ethernet
Ethernet began as the experimental 1973 system at Xerox PARC by Robert Metcalfe and David Boggs, was standardized as IEEE 802.3 in 1983, and grew from shared coaxial cable to switched twisted pair and fiber. It remains the dominant wired network technology on earth.
