Rec. 709
About Rec. 709
ITU-R Recommendation BT.709 fixed high definition television at 16:9 with 1080 lines and a specific set of primaries and gamma. Broadcasters and streaming services still master nearly all HD content to it. Its primaries match sRGB, the default color space of the web, so screens agree on color across cameras, cinemas and laptops.
