RS-232
About RS-232
The serial interface standard first issued by the Electronic Industries Association in 1960, defining signal voltages and, from later revisions, the 25 pin connector. PC makers popularized a smaller 9 pin version. It connected terminals, modems and mice through the PC era and survives in industrial machinery, point of sale and laboratory gear.
