About SVG
Scalable Vector Graphics defines two dimensional graphics as XML markup, so an icon scales from a favicon to a billboard without pixelation. It became a W3C Recommendation in September 2001, and browser makers later agreed on SVG 2. It carries most logos, charts and interface icons on the web and underlies fonts in the OpenType SVG table.
