WebSocket
About WebSocket
The protocol that upgrades an HTTP connection into a persistent two way channel, standardized as RFC 6455 in 2011 after years of browser experimentation. Chat interfaces, live dashboards, multiplayer games and trading screens depend on its low latency push. REST APIs increasingly offer WebSocket streams alongside request response calls.
