About ECMAScript
ECMA-262 standardizes JavaScript, the language Brendan Eich wrote in ten days at Netscape in 1995. The 2015 edition, known as ES6, was the largest revision, adding classes, modules and promises. Browsers now ship annual editions agreed through the TC39 committee process.
