POSIX
About POSIX
The Portable Operating System Interface, standardized by IEEE and adopted by ISO and The Open Group. Born from the Unix wars of the 1980s, it defines system calls, the shell and utilities so software compiles across Unix-like systems. macOS is formally certified, while Linux distributions are largely compliant without certification.
